Arlette Verkruyssen is the Director General of Brussels Housing for the Brussels Regional Public Service. In this role, she leads CALICO (“Care and Living Community”), a co-housing project subsidized by the European program UIA. She is also responsible for mapping out and combating discrimination in the rental market, was the initiator of a regulatory framework for the housing model “Community Land Trust” in the Brussels-Capital Region, and has led housing projects on short-term renting and urban poverty reduction.
Ms. Verkruyssen was previously the Director General of Brussels Urban Development with the Brussels Regional Public Service. Before that, she worked as an advisor in Foreign Affairs and Budget in the cabinet of then-Minister of Budget in the Brussels regional government, and as a jurist in several government services relating to monuments & sites, town and country planning, and social affairs and education.
