Dr. Julie Kim joined NewCities in February 2015 as the first Senior Fellow to lead our newly launched Financing Urban Infrastructure Initiative. Dr. Kim holds a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Stanford University and is currently based at Stanford’s Global Projects Center (GPC). The GPC, which Dr. Kim co-founded in 2004, is a global research center in infrastructure investing and effective private sector participation in major infrastructure developments. She is also Director of the P3 FLIPS Program (Public-Private Partnership Financial Literacy in the Public Sector), a new GPC initiative designed to impart infrastructure investment knowledge to government sponsors in dealing with the complexity of P3 and infrastructure deal structures. In addition to her academic work, Julie Kim has over 25 years of experience in large-scale infrastructure development projects around the world, and an all-round grasp of the technical, financial and legal frameworks of this field.
