The Hon Mark Bailey, MP is the Minister for Transport and Main Roads in the Australian state of Queensland, home to more than five million people.
Mr Bailey oversees one of Australia’s largest state-controlled road networks (over 33,000kms), along with 19 state-owned ports and Queensland’s urban and freight rail network.
Maintaining and improving Queensland’s vast and connected transport network is fundamental to the state’s economic and social development, as is planning for its future.
The Queensland Government was the first government in Australia to develop an Electric Vehicle strategy.
It has also led the way to promote EVs, building the world’s longest network of electric vehicle charging stations covering a distance of almost 1800kms.
In 2020, the Queensland Government will continue to partner with the community, local universities and researchers in a series of testing programs involving highly automated vehicles and connected road infrastructure.
