Stephen Baker, is author most recently of Final Jeopardy: Man vs. Machine and the Quest to Know Everything (2011). It’s the “biography” of IBM’s Jeopardy computer, Watson. His previous book, The Numerati (2008), detailed the emergence of the data economy. It has been translated into 20 languages. For more than a decade, Baker covered technology for BusinessWeek, first from Paris and later New York. At BusinessWeek, he wrote extensively on wireless communications, blogging, social networks and cloud computing. Earlier in his career, he worked as a correspondent in Pittsburgh, Caracas, El Paso and Mexico City. His first novel, The Boost, will be published next year by Tor Books, a division of MacMillan Publishers Ltd.
